I will be at the Waxahachie Civic Center this weekend.  The Ark Country Store is sponsoring the Ellis County Wildlife Expo 2013 from 9 am to 4 pm.  Entrance fee is $5.00.  Come hear from leading wildlife management experts, see the latest hunting gear, mingle with vendors and enter to win door prizes!  New this year are the latest trucks and cars from Waxahachie Autoplex, new vendors including wildlife guides, a fishing pond for the kiddos and food onsite from Chick-Fil-A.  Bring your knives and get them sharpened while you peruse the vendors’ booths.  I hope to see you this weekend.  Vance Hinds and Texas Sharp.

The Apple and The Tree

The apple never falls far from the tree.  The old adage always seems to ring true.  Last week I picked up a knife off of ebay that reminded me of a knife that my Dad often carried.  A Boker large congress with jigged bone handles.  I bid on the knife just on a whim and ended up winning the bid.  I dug my Dad’s knife out of the safe and compared it to the new knife.  I was right about the similarities.  I showed my son Don his Granddad’s knife and the knife I just bought on Ebay.  He loved Pop’s knife more than the new one.  Don is named after my  Dad, Don Hinds by the way.  My son started cleaning the knife.  He spent Sunday night hand sanding a blade by himself in the garage.  Tonight he tried the buffer for the first time on the old congress.  He said, “now this is fun hanging out in the garage and working on knives.”  The apple and the tree.

I am Sharpening at the Waxahachie Farmer’s Market This Weekend, 8/3/13!

I will be sharpening at the Waxahachie Farmer’s Market from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday August 1, 2013.  Bring your knives, scissors, pruning shears, hedge clippers, tree limb loppers, lawn mower blades, and newest edged tool to the resume, electric hedge clippers, to the Farmer’s Market for sharpening.  Last Saturday we had more vendors than ever.  Great fruits, vegetables, and homemade goods.  Saturday is also a special event, grilled Waxahachie.  Come see me.  Also, below are the pics of my newest handmade knife attempt.  Enjoy.
